Hello, I am writing to you as a supporter of Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity to thank you for your leadership in making affordable homeownership a priority in this year's legislative session. I'm aware the environment around this year's budget had its challenges, so we are deeply appreciative of your efforts to advance our shared goals. Twin Cities Habitat advocated to secure and increase funding for a range of programs this year, all of which work to produce and preserve affordable housing, protect homeowners in need, and are critical for the work we do. This includes the First-Generation Downpayment Assistance program, housing infrastructure bonds, and Homeownership Education, Counseling, and Training (HECAT). It also included advocating for HOA reform, including an ombudsperson position to help resolve disputes. We we're glad to see all of these included in the budget and look forward to working together to increase funding for them in the future. In a time when over a quarter of Minnesotans pay more than they can afford for housing and the need is only growing, your leadership is essential in trying to make sure everyone has a safe, stable, and affordable place to call home. Thank you for your commitment to this vision and your understanding that homeownership is the foundation for individuals, families, and communities to thrive.
