Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity encourages you to take action today and connect with your City Councilmember to support our affordable homeownership priorities.

In the Mayor's proposed budget, he increased the Minneapolis Homes budget from $2.5 million a year to $4.5 million a year. To assure this funding is approved, share your support with City Council now!

Subject: Support Affordable Homeownership in the Minneapolis City Budget!

Dear Councilmember, I am a resident of your Ward and as your constituent and a supporter of Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity, I believe increased affordable homeownership funding is essential for our city. Homeownership is the top way most of us can build wealth for our children and grandchildren. But with the cost of owning a home in Minneapolis increasing by 31% over the last 5 years, the possibility of homeownership is slipping further away from our neighbors. Increased city support is vital to creating pathways for our low-income communities to gain access to affordable homeownership. This is why I ask for your support for increased investment in the Minneapolis Homes program. Between 2021-2022, Twin Cities Habitat has seen a 23% increase in production costs. Without greater investment in Minneapolis Homes, the available funding would no longer support the same amount of development throughout the city. I ask that you support Mayor Frey’s proposal to increase Minneapolis Homes yearly budget from $2.5 million to $4.5 million. This investment will be critical for Twin Cities Habitat to increase more affordable homeownership opportunities in Minneapolis.
